Our tour takes us to Jedburgh, dominated by a ruined abbey and rich in the history of Mary Queen of Scots, to charming Melrose, where the
heart of Robert the Bruce is buried in the abbey, and finally to the former woollen town of Hawick.
Lakeland Splendour
Across the border today for a contrasting day of shimmering waters and soaring hills as we tour into the English Lakelands. Passing the shores of Ullswater we ascend the Kirkstone Pass, with its breathtaking lake and mountain views, before reaching the waters of Lake Windermere at Bowness. Here there is the chance to take a lake cruise before we
make our way to Grasmere, where the poet William Wordsworth lived and penned his most famous works.
Ayrshire Coast & Country
This morning we visit Dumfries House, saved by the intervention of King Charles III in 2007 and preserved to its former glory, combining fine architecture alongside many items of the surviving work of Thomas Chippendale - the ‘Shakespeare of furniture makers’. We continue to the Ayrshire coast to catch views of the Isle of Arran across the much revered
championship golf courses that adorn this coastline.
